Good Morning Mountain View! Today is Monday, January 5th, Day 5.

Mountain View boys basketball players are dismissed today at 1:30pm.  Please wait quietly in the lobby for your transportation.

Today’s Muslim Student Association meeting is cancelled. Again, today’s Muslim Student Association meeting is cancelled. Please go home on the bus at regular dismissal time. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Our next MSA meeting will be Monday, February 2nd. 

Attention creative writers, our first meeting this month will be next week, Monday, January 12th. There will be no meeting this week. Our next theme will be ballads! See you next week!

The Board and Card Game Club will be starting in 2026!  Come join Mr. Baughman in the library from 3:35 -4:30pm every Wednesday after school starting on January 7th and running through the end of March.  All school-appropriate card and board games are welcome.  We have a great collection of games, and you are welcome to bring your own.  Come play classic games like Uno and Chess, and maybe even discover some new favorite games like Horrified, Guillotine, or even Magic: The Gathering!  There is no sign up or Schoology group.  Attendance is casual, so come whenever you’d like.  Hope to see you there!

The college football playoffs are in full swing. This Thursday night, Miami will take on Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl which is also a National Semi Final Game. Friday night will Feature Oregon as they take on fellow Big 10 competitor Indiana in the Peach Bowl. This game is also a National Semi Final Game. 

The NFL Playoff schedule is now set. The Denver Broncos are the top seed in the AFC and receive a 1st round bye while the Seattle Seahawks are the top seed in the NFC and will also receive a 1st round bye.  NFL Wild Card games on Saturday, January 10th will be the Rams at the Panthers, and the Packers at the Bears.  Sunday, January 11th will be the Bills at the Jaguars, The 49ers at the Eagles and the Chargers at the Patriots. Monday, January 12th will be be the Texans at the Steelers.

Please listen in for an important update! Students will no longer be allowed to stay after school to watch a sporting event. All students need to go home and then return to watch the game with an adult who stays with them for the entire game. Any students who try to stay after school, or attend the game without an adult, will be required to call their families to be picked up. Dr. Snell posted an update about this on Schoology yesterday, please read that for more information.

Attention 8th Grade Students: On February 12th, staff from CV9 will meet with you to discuss CV9, including course scheduling, activities, clubs, etc. If you have any specific questions about the transition to high school (course offerings, grading, school rules, activities, sports, logistics, etc.), please complete the linked form shared by Dr. Snell on Schoology by February 6th. You may fill out the form multiple times if you have more than one question. This is optional. The February meeting is informational, and there is nothing to do for the 2/12 meeting. 

Mr. Kochara would like to remind his class that your job interviews are today. You must come to class with a printed copy of your resume. If you have not printed a copy, please do so during homeroom. You will not have a chance during class today.

During the month of December, our teams took time to recognize students who consistently demonstrated positive character traits and contributed to our school community. Each team selected students who stood out through their actions, attitudes, and commitment to doing the right thing. We are incredibly proud of our students and the positive examples they set for their peers each day. Thank you for joining us in celebrating their achievements.

Each month, we also choose one student from each grade to receive the Portrait of an Eagle Award. This award recognizes students who best demonstrate the POE competency of the month for their grade. We are proud to announce this month’s POE certificate recipients. All Eagle of the Month and POE award winners should please report to the office at this time to pick up your certificates.

Students participating in the AMC 8 competition are reminded that the contest will take place on January 23rd at 2:00pm in the cafeteria. If you have not yet registered on the MAA Website, please check your Schoology messages for the registration link sent by Mrs. Adams. Registration must be completed by January 20th in order to participate. If you filled out the interest Google Form before winter break but did not receive a registration link, please contact Mrs. Adams. Good luck to all our AMC 8 competitors as you prepare for the big day!

Here is the 2026 CV Middle School Volleyball Information -

7th Grade: Open Gyms: February 17th and 18th from 3:30- 5:30pm at Mountain View Gymnasium. Try-outs: March 2nd and 3rd from 3:30 – 5:30 at Mountain View Gymnasium.

8th Grade: Open Gyms: February 24th and 25th from 3:30–5:30pm at Mountain View. Try-outs: March 4th and 5th from 3:30–5:30pm at Mountain View.

*Students are required to attend BOTH of the try-out dates for their grade in order to be considered for the team. ALL students MUST upload a recent PIAA physical and have parents complete all forms on RankOne in order to tryout!

 This MUST be done Prior to the first day of try-outs!!! Look on the CV Website under athletics for more RankOne details or contact the CV Athletic Trainer for assistance.

*An club bus will be provided to bring Eagle View students to Mountain View for these events. Students will need to sign up for the club bus in Eagle View Main Office in order to ride the bus.

*If students are selected for the team…there will be a mandatory parent meeting on March 6th from 5:00 – 6:00pm at the Mountain View Cafeteria.

The Mountain View PTO is hosting a Trivia Night for Mountain View students and families on Friday, 1/30/26, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Mountain View Cafeteria. The event is free, and winning teams can win a prize. If you are planning to attend, please complete the quick form that was shared by Dr. Snell on Schoology  so the PTO can plan for appropriate food and drink for purchase. You are not required to RSVP to attend; it is only for planning purposes.
